To describe a person's appearance we can use:

look + adjective (including age) - He looks sad/about 15 or 16 years old/bored.

look like + noun                       - He looks like his father/He looks like a bodyguard.

Compare:

He looks like a boxer/ He looks tired = what I think.

He is a boxer/He is tired = fact.

 

He's the spitting image (of someone)= He's identical to someone

We don't say She's stupid . We say She's not very clever.
